"USC is far ahead of everyone else right now," explained Thomas. "I am thinking hard about committing. I just need to take a visit to Cal on November 20th to see if 'SC is truly where my heart is. Right now I am just focusing on getting good grades and having a good season. I have not heard from Cal recently. The last two times they called I was sleeping one time and the other time I was on the phone with 'SC. So it has been a little bit since I have spoken with their coaches."

Thomas will take the Cal visit for the Stanford game and will visit 'SC the weekend of December 10th. Sandwiched between those two visits will be a trip to Arizona. "I like Arizona a lot but they are far behind USC right now, just like everyone else. I really think I would prefer to stay in-state. One of these other schools would really have to blow me away for me to not go to USC.

"They have everything I want at Southern Cal. They have a great graduation rate, they are national champions, and they are right around the corner from my house so my family can come see me play."

The only schools besides these three that would have any kind of a shot right now would be the Florida schools. "I am not hearing much from Miami, Florida, or Florida State, but if I did I would think about taking a visit out there."

On the season, Thomas has 220 yards receiving on offense and a touchdown. On defense, he has 63 tackles and two picks. "I have had five but on three of them our defense was called for penalties so they don't count."

Rio Mesa is ranked as the #1 team in their county and league and takes on Oxnard Hueneme, this Friday.
