On his commitment to USC:
"Oh my commitment is firm, it's VERY firm, It's been very firm for a while. I took the trips (to Az. and Ore.) because my parents were kinda worried that I just jumped on the first offer that I had. They wanted me to weigh all of my options, but the trips didn't turn my head or anything… (My parents) love the fact that I'm going to USC, they just didn't want me to jump into the fire, if you know what I'm saying."
On what he'll be doing from now until summer camp:
" I'm running track right now, but I'm also doing football stuff like working out with my coach at the HS. Sometimes I'll work out with (Dominguez ) Alumni like Willie Hurst. "
On running track:
"I'll probably run the 100 or the 200. I might do both. "
On his 100m time:
"I'll probably run a sub 10.4"
Do you think you will take State?
On teammate LaJuan Ramsey:
"He's an explosive player…he's so big…a diamond in the rough."
A relative unknown until his commitment to USC, DL LaJuan Ramsey of Compton Dominguez HS might be one of the best kept secrets in CA. Big, fast and explosive, Ramsey is raw natural talent. With some instruction from coach O, LaJuan could turn out to be a very good football player on the next level. I spoke with LaJuan tonight and here's what he had to say:
M: You are committed to USC, correct?
M: What other schools were recruiting you?
L: Ore, Az, CSU, SJSU, Fresno St.
M: Why did you pick USC?
L: I like the coaches and I think they're going to have a good program in a couple of years, and it's close to home.
M: Can you give me your stats on the year?
L: 11 sacks, 44 solo stops, 60 tackles altogether, 2 deflections, 2 caused fumbles and I would say around 50 pancakes on offense.
L: A combination of being fast and big.
M: How long have you been playing football?
L: Last season was my second year of football.
M: What did you do before that?
L: Nothing. Well, I played baseball. Not at the high school, just recreational baseball at the park.
M: Size, Speed, Forty time?
L: 6-3 ½, 255, 4.7
M: What position is SC recruiting you at?
M: When do you take the SAT's?
L: Jan 26
