Montgomery was named the Sierra Valley Conference Offensive MVP and was a first team all-city selection by The Sacramento Bee, first team Sac-Joaquin all-section pick, 2005 Scholar-Athlete by the Sacramento Valley Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.

"I have great vision and I hit the holes very hard," says Montgomery. "I also have good speed. I am trying to work on my power for next year."

Rancho Cordova head coach Max Miller says of his star player, "I had the best player in the nation in 1981 in Kevin Willhite and I hate to say James is better, but he is."

Arizona was the first school to offer the running back and then a couple weeks ago he received offers on the same day from Arizona State and Northwestern. Washington State has since thrown their hat in the ring. "I like Washington, Washington State, Arizona, USC, UCLA, and Ohio State. I am really open. I would not say anyone leads right now."

The L.A. schools are showing him a lot of attention. "Coach (tight ends coach Jon) Embree has been sending me some stuff from UCLA. I really like the location of UCLA and the fact that it is in the nice part of the city.

"Coach (USC linebackers coach Rocky) Seto has been contacting me from USC. They are the national champions so you gotta love 'em. They are a team that I have been watching every Saturday during the season for a long time."

Montgomery will be attending USC's junior day, April 3rd. He is unsure of summer camps plans at this time.

The tailback is currently participating in Track where he runs the 100, 200, 4X100, and the 4X400. His personal best in the 100 is 10.76 and in the 200 he holds a 22.02.

He holds a 2.7 core GPA and scored a 19 on the ACT. Montgomery would like to major in Communications or pursue a degree in Teaching.
