Tebow awaits visit from Trojans

The top rated quarterback on the Trojan wish list will get a school visit on Thursday from Pete Carroll as the USC head coach will be at Nease HS in Florida. Tebow is an outstanding prospect, a left handed thrower who put up mind-boggling stats last year in the air and on the ground. Click below to read more.

Tim Tebow threw for state-record 4,286 yards and 46 TDs and rushed for 1,266 yards and 24 TDs for an 11-2 team as a junior. He was third in voting for Florida Mr. Football. He has been featured in Sports Illustrated's "Faces In The Crowd" feature.

With credentials like those it's no wonder Tebow has received so much early season recruiting hype and after watching his highlight film it's easy to see that all the attention is justified. Tim has good mobility and a strong arm but what jumps out at you is his ability to move. He is a legitimate threat as a runner (he has 6-3, 225 size and can run over defenders) and he also throws extremely well on the run.

Tebow is simply a good athlete who excels not only in football but also in basketball and baseball. He is enough of a prospect in baseball (LF, P) that he will get interest from the professional ranks but he says football is his real passion "I love baseball but there's something about the game of football". He says if the option is there in college to play both sports that he would like to pursue it.

Tim, who will spend three weeks on a mission in the Phillipines this summer, says he can't narrow down his choices too much right now "I just want to keep looking and visiting and I hope when the fit is right I'll know it". Tim has received offers from over 30 schools already including local heavyweights Florida State, Florida, Miami and Georgia but lately the Trojans have come on the scene and Tebow says he is very interested in what the defending national champions have to offer.

"I just talked with Coach Sarkisian on Saturday and we were getting everything set up for he and Coach Carroll to come in on Thursday. I've got a baseball game tomorrow, it's the regional quarterfinals and if we win we play on Friday so hopefully they'll be watching me in baseball practice on Thursday.

"I received a few letters from the SC coaches early on but it really started picking up a few weeks ago. It was only a week or so ago that we really had a good talk where we were getting to know each other with Coach Carroll, Coach Sarkisian and Coach Kiffin on the phone. I really liked all three coaches.

"Everybody knows what they've got going on over there at USC. Coach Carroll has that program playing at a high level and I'm really looking forward to meeting them and getting to know them more."

Tebow says the relationship he has with a head coach and his position coach as well as the ability to compete will be the two most important factors in making his college choice.

"I need to connect with them. That's real important. Those two coaches will have a big impact on me. I also just want a chance to compete. If I can find those two things then that's the place for me."

Tim will find out on Thursday that Pete Carroll connects with recruits as well as any head coach in the country right now. As for the opportunity to compete, the entire USC program is based on the notion of competition. It sounds like the beginning of a good relationship.
