Junior to watch: QB Justin Midgett

One of the top QB's on the coaches wish list for 2003 is Justin Midgett from Charlotte HS in Punta Gorda, FL. "I've received several letters from USC so far and I definitely responded," said Justin. "I've followed them a lot because they play good football on the West Coast and USC plays in the Coliseum, that would be awesome to play there."

Midgett was one of the top performers at the Florida Nike Camp last spring and had an outstanding junior season with 1,653 yards and 18 TD's with a 52 percent completion percentage. He is 6'4'', 195 and has offers from North Carolina and North Carolina State with letters from USC, Florida, Florida State, Oregon, Maryland and Tennessee.

"I would say so far my leaders are North Carolina, North Carolina State, Florida and USC. I'm not really going to consider FSU because they just have too many QB's there already. I'm mostly a dropback passer and my strength as a quarterback is the ability to read defenses at the line of scrimmage and making the correct audibles. My dad was a quarterback at my high school and I kind of grew up around the team and around the game."

Justin currently carries a 3.0 GPA and plans to take the SAT in March. He is looking to major in journalism or communications with a possible career in sports broadcasting as a goal.
