Fox Sports West 2 HS Game of the Week

The 2005 Fox Sports West 2 High School Game of the Week schedule has been announced with some of the top schools in the area appearing such as Mission Viejo, Hart, Long Beach Poly and Colton. Click below for the schedule:

Thurs. Sept. 8th (7:00pm)

Crenshaw vs Taft

A battle between two of the top teams in the Los Angeles City section with talented athletes all over the field. The Crenshaw Cougars are led by defensive back Darian Hagan, who led the area with 13 interceptions last year, while the Taft Toreadors feature speedy wide receiver Jamere Holland, the defending California state track champion in the 100 meters and 200 meters.

Fri. Sept. 16th (8:00pm)

LB Poly vs Bellevue

Two of the top teams on the West Coast battle as the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits travel north to the state of Washington to take on the Bellevue Wolverines. Poly is the defending CIF-Southern Section Division 1 champion and they are led by wide receiver Terrence Austin while Bellevue is the two-time defending Washington state champs and they have a monster offensive lineman in Steve Schilling. Bellevue beat DeLaSalle of Concord, California last season to end the Spartans 151 game win streak.

Fri. Sept. 23rd (7:00pm)

Westlake vs Hart

One of the most exciting rivalries in Southern California in recent years, the Westlake Warriors take on the Hart (Newhall) Indians. Westlake has a terrific defense led by defensive end Jeff Miller while the Hart passing attack is in the hands of Tyler Lyon, ranked as one of the top quarterbacks in Southern California.

Rancho Cucamonga vs Centennial

We travel east to the Inland Empire to watch the Rancho Cucamonga Cougars take on the Centennial (Corona) Huskies. The Cougars feature one of the top defensive backs in the country, Devin Ross was ranked as the #2 cornerback in the country by one scouting service, and they will face the always tough Husky passing attack led by returning QB Chris Scott.

Loyola vs Hart

It's a new era for the traditional power Loyola Cubs as they switch to a wide open passing game under new head coach Jeff Kearin and they travel to take on the Hart Indians. This rivalry has grown in recent years as both teams are usually ranked among the best in Southern California.

Sat. Oct. 8th (7:30pm)

DeLaSalle vs Mission Viejo

It doesn't get much bigger than this. The DeLaSalle Spartans, who saw their national record 151 game win streak fall last season, will look to reclaim their spot as the top team in the state as the take on the Mission Viejo Diablos. Coach Bob Ladoceur will have the Spartans ready but they will face an offensive machine at Mission Viejo led by RB Chane Moline and TE Konrad Reuland.

Palmdale vs Oaks Christian

The Oaks Christian Lions (Westlake Village) have been a rising small-school program in recent years and this will be one of their biggest tests yet. The Palmdale Falcons have tremendous athletes including multi-purpose WR/DB Tyreace House while Oaks Christian has QB Jimmy Clausen, who many feel is the top junior thrower in the nation.

Esperanza vs Los Alamitos

The Sunset League title could be on the line when the Los Alamitos Griffins host the Esperanza Aztecs. Los Al has one of the top defensive linemen in Southern California in Toby Turpin while the Aztec running game will be led by one of the best offensive linemen in the area in Joe Hawley.

Colton vs Redlands East Valley

It will be an Inland Empire battle as Citrus Belt League rivals Colton and Redlands East Valley meet in the regular season finale. The Colton Yellow Jackets are thinking CIF Southern Section title with talented RB/LB Allen Bradford, ranked as the top player in the state, while Redlands East Valley features WR Isiah Burel.
