Perez talks about USC verbal

"I thought I probably wanted to go to USC ever since they first offered me in February, said Camden (N.J.) 5-star safety Antwine Perez (6-2, 200, 4.5). "I had a very strong interest very early. I was real impressed that they came way across the country to offer me and I think I was the first guy they offered on the east coast," Perez said.

"There is just something about them. I don't know how to explain it. It's just a feeling. Nothing stands out. There's just so much talk about. But, I like all the players. The guys who I've spent the most time with are Will Harris (DB), Patrick Turner (WR), Brian Cushing (LB) and Dwayne Jarrett (WR).

"Everyone is laid-back and cool there," he said. "I like the city environment and the players there are like a family. They have great players, coaches and academics too. I just love the program.

"USC is a private school, which I like too. Their teachers pay a lot of attention to the students. I like that it's a little smaller than some other schools.

"There wasn't much pressure on me to stay local," Perez said. "My No. 2 school was Michigan. I was just more comfortable at USC. I told the USC coaches I was going to go there this summer. I committed to them in person when I officially visited them for the Arkansas game (9/17). There's no chance I'm going anywhere else.

"I can play either free or strong safety for them. Those positions are really the same at USC. I'm equally good against the pass or the run, so it doesn't matter."
