Wednesday practice tidbits

It was a very solid practice today as the offense looked good led by the passing combination of Matt Leinart to Dwayne Jarrett. The two hooked up on several touchdown passes including a 30 yarder and a 10 yarder in the team drill to end the practice. Jarrett also had a one-handed grab and a catch of a low thrown ball just inches off the ground which he made look routine.

Rey Maualuga practice today with the service team and the mood on the sidelines from observers was a sense that we have been through this before with Hershel Dennis and Eric Wright so most everybody simply had a wait and see attitude when it comes to the Maualuga situation. Rey got in a lot of work after practice on pursuit angles with Rocky Seto.

Keith Rivers did not practice and we saw Collin Ashton in his place, during the nickel drills it was Ashton and Lua at the linebacker spots. Brian Cushing took the majority of snaps today at SLB.

Fred Davis and Dale Thompson got the bulk of the work at tight end today with Dominique Byrd out. Dale is coming off an injured thumb but he seemed to be OK.

Jody Adewale got a lot of carries today and he ran well, he's been making progress and looks like a guy we will see a lot more of starting in the spring.

Scott Ware had a pick after Leinart tried to hit Patrick Turner along the sideline but Josh Pinkard was able to tip the ball in the air before Ware came over for the grab.

Leinart hit Bush for a deep touchdown pass although it looked like Reggie got away with a push in the end zone on Ryan Ting.

The most athletic move of the day came between drills as Darnell Bing leapfrogged a teammate from behind as he went from drill to drill. Not to be outdone, Justin Wyatt followed suit and did the same thing.

Kyle Moore sat out the last part of practice with a wrap around his right leg.

David Kirtman had a long run in a drill on Brian Kennedy Field.
