Wednesday practice tidbits

The big concern today about practice was a check to see who was healthy enough to go, especially at the linebacker spot.

On the good news side, we saw Keith Rivers and Rey Maualuga both return and they were in the first team rotation. Keith looked pretty good running around as he comes back from a hamstring injury while Rey is back from seeing his ill father in Northern California. The situation with his father does not sound good and you could see from the look on his face after practice that he is dealing with a lot right now. Oscar Lua did not practice but he is expected to go tomorrow. Brian Cushing also did not practice as he had a sore neck.

At corner, we saw John Walker return today and he was working with the 2nd team rotation. He said the ankle felt good early in the day but after practicing it felt real sore. Frostee Rucker saw limited action with a sore back, Rashaad Goodrum did not practice.

Dominique Byrd was healthy enough to see some reps and to roll the length of the field after practice for an undisclosed infraction.

Troy Van Blarcom made a 53 yard field goal with plenty to spare.

Fred Davis and Patrick Turner stayed after practice for extra work catching balls.
