Chauncey Washington commits to Trojans

"There is just a vibe about the school, I can't explain it. When I walk on the campus it feels like home."

South Torrance RB Chauncey Washington gave a verbal commitment last week to Trojan head coach Pete Carroll to become the 2nd commitment in this recruiting class.

Washington (6-0, 195) is a powerful running back who gained 1,872 yards on 225 carries and scored 24 touchdowns last season.

"Not a lot of people have what I have," said Washington. "I've got quickness, speed (4.47 40), power and I also have size.  I'm at 195 lbs right now and I'll probably play at about 215 when I get to USC.

I'm really happy with my decision for a lot of reasons.  I've got a lot of family living in California and I really wanted them to be able to see me play.  I like the coaching staff a lot, Coach Carroll got real excited when I told him I was coming.  Kennedy Pola has a great attitude too, he really pumps me up. To tell you the truth I was more of a UCLA fan growing up but USC turned me over.  The Trojan coaches came after me hard and once I went to the school I started to really like them.  There is just a vibe about the school, I can't explain it.  When I walk on the campus it feels like home."

Washington pulled a hamstring recently and did not attend the USC one-day camp but will participate in the upcoming 4-day camp.   In the end he chose the Trojans over Michigan State while other schools in the mix included Wisconsin, Oregon, Oregon State, ASU, Arizona, Boston College and Washington State.
