Recruit to watch: OL Hercules Satele

The offensive line is a top priority in this class and one of the centers being recruited by the Trojans is a player who has started at tackle for the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits since he was a sophomore.

Hercules Satele (6-2, 240) is a physical lineman who played alongside Winston Justice last season at Poly although he says the Jackrabbit coaches have talked to him about moving to center this year and most college coaches think that is his eventual position.

"I would like to play offensive line in college and it really doesn't matter to me what spot I'm at," says Satele. "I like to play defense and this year we should have a pretty good defensive line so I don't know how much they need me over there.

I like USC a lot.  I've been watching them ever since I was a kid and I like the USC vs UCLA rivalry.  They are one of the teams I'm looking at along with ASU, Oregon, Washington and Washington State.  Pete Carroll and Kennedy Pola came by the school last week and met with our coaches but we weren't really allowed to talk with them because of NCAA rules.  They are recruiting a lot of guys on our team (Hercules, Junior Lemau'u, Josh Tavanuu, Freddie Parrish, Brian Banks and Mark Washington) and after they left I looked on the board in the coaches office and USC was listed under all of our names.  I haven't personally been offered by any of the coaches but that board is supposed to list all the schools who are offering scholarships."

At the Nike Camp last month Hercules posted a 4.88 shuttle, did 18 reps at 185 pounds and had a 23.3-inch vertical jump.  He will be a player to watch this fall as the Trojans look to fill in this line class with the best players possible.
