CaliFlorida practice notes - Thursday

The tempo of today's practice was a lot higher then the previous few days as the players are learning their assignments.

- The linemen got things rolling with one on ones, and Zack Heberer did let anyone past him. Heberer looks to weigh about 280 pounds, but very solid.

- I then went over to watch the receivers and cornerbacks work, and saw some very good match ups. Shareece Wright and Vincent Joseph had a few pass break-ups. Darian Hagan had a very nice pick.

- Derek Simmons saw a lot of time at tight end and defensive end, and he moves very well for being 280 lbs.

- The team then gathered as the the offense and defense faced off. Garrett Green got most of the reps at QB, and made very few mistakes.

- Derrick Hill and Allen Bradford are absolute ballhawks. Hill was constantly disrupting the play in the backfield. Bradford seems to be in the right spot at all times, and is very fast to the ball. Hill is very vocal on the field, and was letting the offense know he was coming.

- C.J. Gable broke off a very nice 40 yrd touchdown run, shaking a few defenders on his way to the endzone.

- The play of the day came when Kenny Ashley broke off a 10 yrd run to the endzone, and on his way absolutely leveled the defender trying to stop him. The players all celebrated and the scrimmage came to a close. Kenny Ashley was very impressive playing tailback today, and is about as solid as you can get for his size.
