"I just knew it was the best choice. You know I had an awesome time with coach Carroll, T-Mac, and Sark, I guess that visit really sealed the deal. The coaches are telling me to come in and be ready to compete, since everybody is leaving. And I mean it's a great school. I'm just happy right now."
Although most recruits have an idea ahead of time where they will go, Havili did not have his decision made until tonight.
"Just today I realized I should go there."
When asked what played a key role in his decision, he quickly repsonded.
"I just want to play early."
It is still undecided whether Havili's future at USC will be at fullback or tailback, but Havili.
"The coaches are looking at me more as a thunder type back."
Leading up to tonight, one of the biggest factors in Havili's recruitment was his Mormon mission. Coach Carroll and staff felt that Havili should not go on his mission, because of the need for a thunder type back right away. And although Havili announced tonight for USC, he is still undecided on his misson.
"I don't know yet. We'll see, we'll see."
Havili plans on making a big impact for the Trojans next year, and feels he is ready to take his game to sunny Southern California.
"I'm just going to go in there and try my hardest and show what I've got. I'm going to be representing my state."
