"I'm going to play at USC. Me and my mom are real close and I want to be nearby so she can see my games. The academics at USC are real good too so it will be good for me to have a degree from USC."
What was it about USC that made it the school he chose?
"It's like a big family there. All of the players and coaches are real close together. Plus they provide a lot of acadmic help and a degree from USC is worth a lot. During my in-home visit with Coach Carroll last night he said if any of the players need any help, we can go to him. It's not that hard to pass the classes if you just do your work and use the help we'll receive."
It's unclear yet which position Gable will play as a Trojan although he will likely enter USC as a defensive back. He had 7 picks this year on defense to go along with 2,117 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns on offense. Gable has always maintained that he doesn't care which side of the ball he plays on, he just wants to be on the field.
"The Trojan coaches haven't told me yet where I'm going to play for sure. They said they are going to try me on both sides and then we'll take it from there."
"I like defense. I like to hit, basically. If I get the chance when you're in the open, I'm going to hit you. That's why I like defense."
"My style of play as a running back is to do a little of everything. I can run inside between the tackles or I can run outside, some people didn't use to think I could run inside the middle because they didn't think I was big enough but this year I proved everybody wrong."
When asked about comparisons of his running ability to Reggie Bush, Gable said he has learned from the 2005 Heisman Trophy winner:
"Yeah, I watch a lot of film of what he does and I try to use that on the field to my advantage. I like the way USC uses the running backs because with Reggie, he gets a lot of catches, he's involved on every play."
Gable chose the Trojans over Arizona. How serious was he looking at the Wildcats?
"At first I wasn't really looking at Arizona, and then I went there for a visit and I was thinking, 'yeah, they really do need players there and they are an up and coming team', but my mom really wanted me to stay close to home, so I decided I was going to go to USC."
