Recruit to watch: Safety Donte Nicholson

Nicholson (6-2, 210) was the Co-Defensive Player of the Year last year in the Mission Conference while playing for Mount San Antonio College. He starred in high school for the CIF champion Diamond Bar team in 1999 and originally signed with the Washington Huskies but did not qualify.

"Donte sat out the 2000 season and then came to play for us last year," said Mt. SAC coach Bill Fisk. "He is just a tremendous player and a fine young man. He averaged around 15 tackles per game and is just such a good athlete. Right now he is being recruited by pretty much everybody in the Pac-10 as well as schools like Florida State. Pete Carroll was by here in May and he really liked him. I think Donte would be a real good player for USC with the way Carroll uses his safeties to come up and be playmakers."

Donte is friends with Florida State DB Dominic Robinson and Dominic is pushing hard to get his friend to join him as a Seminole but Donte is wide open right now about his college choice. He will play this fall for Mt. SAC and then enroll at his college of choice in the spring.
