"Notre Dame offered me towards the end of December. I really respect their program a lot," said the Scout.com five-star ballcarrier. "Coach Charlie Weis is one of the best coaches in football and he's really done a lot there. That program is definitely on the rise. Joe Montana, who's a friend of my dad's, went there and I've talked with him about the school and what a great campus it is. I've also talked with Coach (Michael) Haywood and Coach (Bernie) Parmalee a lot.
"I like USC a lot. They play with a lot of intensity. I talk with coaches (Pete) Carroll, (Steve) Sarkisian and (Todd) McNair all the time. Coach Carroll is a really cool guy. He has a lot of energy. They offered me right after Signing Day this year. I'm not ready to decide and I'm looking at schools all over. They said I'm a little Reggie Bush with my dad's old moves. It's close to my house, so I know the area. It's also in my dad's old neighborhood. I'm going to the USC Junior Day this Sunday (4/2).
"Michigan is another school I like," he said. "I don't know a whole lot about the place. They've had a lot of great guys come out of there. Plus, Coach (Lloyd) Carr is such a great coach. It would be great to play for him. I want to take an official visit out there for sure so I can see for myself what they have to offer.
"Of course, UCLA is on my top list too," he said. "With my dad going there, I grew up a UCLA fan. At first, I didn't really want to go there. I didn't want to follow in my dad's footsteps. But the more I talked to the coaches, the more I realized how cool it would be to follow in his footsteps—to start where my dad left off. I mean, the fans are great and there are so many people that support me and want me to go there. The campus is in a beautiful neighborhood. I know a lot of the players already and all the coaches are great. They send me a lot of handwritten letters too. That's pretty special.
"I really like Tennessee too. They were the first school to offer me at the end of my sophomore year. I've been there a lot because I have family there. I had the most fun there. It's such a great school and city—it's in the middle of everywhere. I love the fact that in the South they live for football. Football is everything to them. We'd walk down the street and people would be calling my name, it was great.
"South Carolina and Oregon both offered me and are both really good programs. I don't really know much about the schools, but from all the contact I've had with the coaches, I would like to learn more about them," Tyler said. "The Ducks are a really strong team that just seems to be getting better every year.
"As for South Carolina, I really like the coaches a lot. Also, my friend, Gary Gray (CB), just committed there. I'd like to take a visit out there soon."
The Texas Longhorns are the only favorite which hasn't offered. "I'm interested in Texas. They too have such a dominant program. I haven't talked with them much though."
