Broderick Green commits to USC

The Trojans received their second commitment for the Class of 2007 today when RB Broderick Green gave a verbal to USC head coach Pete Carroll.

"I committed today to Coach Carroll in his office. I told him I want to be a Trojan and I want to play for him. He was real excited".

For good reason. Carroll lands a running back who is 6-2, 230 and is considered to be one of the top "power" backs in the country for next year. Green rushed for 1,664 yards with 21 touchdowns during his junior season at Pulaski Academy in Little Rock, AR and he recorded 48 receptions for 568 yards and five touchdowns as well.

"I came in for a visit last night to USC along with my brother and my cousin and attended their practice today. I'm also planning on going to a scrimmage tomorrow and then to the Junior Day on Sunday. What helped me make up my mind to give a commitment to USC was that every time I talked to Coach Carroll he would always stress education. A degree from USC will help me after I'm out of college because it's a good school to graduate from. Basically the whole trip was great, I loved it.

"I got to meet a lot of the players and coaches. Everybody was real cool. I met Patrick Turner, Steve Smith and Dwayne Jarrett. Patrick Turner is from Nashville so he knows what it's like for someone who is coming out from Little Rock. I also met Taylor Mays and Garrett Green who are coming in this year.

"I was able to take a tour of the campus today and it was real nice. I stuck around after that and attended some of the team meetings before going out to practice. They were doing a lot of special teams stuff along with some offense and defense. There was a lot of energy on the field, that was one thing I really liked".
