O'Dowd gives thoughts on USC

With a commit earlier in the week from Martin Coleman, the Trojans filled one of their offensive line spots for the Class of 2007. Who will fill the remaining spots? One of the candidates is big Kristofer O'Dowd from Arizona and we caught up with Kris to get his thoughts on USC and to get an update on his overall recruiting status.

"I won't really start narrowing things down until the summer and maybe by August I will have a list of my top choices. I will evaluate the schools with a lot of different factors like who they have on the roster at my position, who they have recruited in this class at my position, academics, etc.

"I saw that USC recently got a commit from the kid from California (Coleman). It's important to have a good class but if a school signs six other offensive linemen they probably aren't the place for me.

"So far this spring Arizona and Ohio State have been by the school and I know Michigan State is supposed to be here tomorrow. The USC coaches told me they will stop by in early May. I still don't know if I'm going to the USC summer camp or not. They told me at the camp they teach the same things they do on the field so if they are going to be one of my top schools to choose from then it probably makes sense to take the short trip to California for the camp to see how they teach.

"The SC coaches offered me after their Junior Day earlier this month. That day was pretty packed and at first I don't think they knew I was there until I introduced myself to Coach Ruel. I got some one on one time with him that day and then the next day my coach told me to call Coach Kiffin and I called him on Tuesday. He put Coach Carroll on the phone and he told me I had an offer. That was a nice offer to have under your belt. USC is one of the best."

O'Dowd is now up to 14 offers after a recent offer from Baylor. He plans to attend the Scout.com combine on May 7th in Southern California.
