Recruiting tidbits

A look at what's going on in the world of USC recruiting

A pair of defensive backs have risen up the wish list in recent weeks as Desmond Reed from Temple City HS and Terrell Thomas from Rancho Cucamonga both received offers from the USC coaches following the recent 4 day camp.  Reed is the definition of the term "playmaker" with the ability to make things happen anytime he is on the field while Thomas can star at either corner or safety with his combination of size and speed......One DB who got tired of waiting for the USC coaches to offer was Birmingham safety Dennis Keyes who accepted a scholarship from the Bruins last week.  Keyes was a longtime Trojan fan who came to the recent camp but when he didn't get an offer shortly after that he cast his lot across town......The Trojans will be bringing in an athletic lineman from Samoa this fall named Travis Tofi.   Travis was primarily an offensive lineman in high school but wants the opportunity to play DL in college.....One of the biggest surprises of the camp was the discovery of tight end Evan Moore from Brea Olinda HS.  Moore has been known as more of a basketball player but he has received offers from both the Trojans and Stanford in recent weeks for his play on the gridiron and he is now the top player on the USC wish list at that spot......Kyle Wright will be taking an extended tour of colleges throughout the Southeast in August with the goal of making a final decision before the start of his high school season.  Kyle had a terrific comfort level with the Trojan coaches during the camp and it is a great sign that he chose to attend our camp even though he had been here many times and already knew what we had to offer.....We are focused on Wright but QB Michael Affleck from Utah continues to impress the coaches in various camps......Trojan verbal commit Robert Lewis from Montclair Prep has received an offer from Stanford and says that is the one school that could get him to change his mind from USC.....Matt Spanos from Corona has received a USC offer although he could end up on either side of the ball.  He is primarily a defensive lineman right now but the Trojan coaches believe he has the potential to star on offense as well.....Hershel Dennis passed his most recent SAT test and will enroll in the fall while Darnell Bing and Manuel Wright await results from the ACT.  La Juan Ramsey has not received final word from the SAT.....The Trojans have offered Crenshaw DT Brandon Mebane and LB Poly safety Freddie Parrish......Lance Broadus from Taft is one of the most talented linebackers around with the size to make an impact quickly on the college level and, despite rumors about his ability to qualify, the Trojans will continue to recruit him as a priority player.....USC is considered a solid leader for Tustin OL Sam Baker, a physical run blocker whose teammate Chris Barrett also likes the Trojans and is being recruited as both a tight end and defensive end......Mark Bradford has already talked to the USC basketball coaches about participating in both sports as a Trojans since the Fremont wide receiver is also an All City basketball player.....El Camino College middle linebacker Brian Smith lists the Trojans as his leader
