Sad News

The Associated Press is reporting that USC freshman point guard Ryan Francis was shot and killed early Saturday morning. He was visiting his mother in Louisiana and was shot in a car.

No else was injured and an arrest has been made.

Francis started all 30 games for the PAC-10 school in 2005-06 and averaged 7.1 points, 3.7 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals.

Francis averaged 22 points, five assists and three steals per game as a senior at Glen Oaks High School in Baton Rouge, La. He led his team to a perfect 36-0 record and the state 4-A Title.

Francis completed his prep career as the 2005 Louisiana Class 4-A Player of the Year. He was also the MVP in the state title game, the 4-A All-State MVP, All-Metro and an LHSCAA All-Star in 2005.

On behalf of Scout.com, we offer our condolences to the Francis family, friends and teammates. Coach Tim Floyd's quote in the AP story pretty much says it all. "We're all devastated."
