Luther Davis calls USC his leader

Louisiana defensive end Luther Davis (6-4, 255) from West Monroe HS is saying that the Trojans are his leader at this point "I'm pretty sure I'm going to USC, that's the main thing". Click below to read more:

Davis talked on the phone yesterday with all the members of the USC coaching staff and he came away impressed with what he heard:

"I haven't committed yet but I'm pretty sure I'm going there," said Davis. "My family and my coach want me to focus on school right now and wait on making a final decision. My mom is worried about the location being too far away but I look at guys like Dwayne Jarrett and Patrick Turner and see the success they are having so USC must have something pretty special there.

"Coach Carroll talked to me a lot last night about playing time and he really pinpointed that issue well. He realizes how important that is to me. He compared me to Kenechi Udeze (former USC star DE now with the Minnesota Vikings) and he said he could see me at the same level Kenechi was when he played there.

"It was interesting, Coach Carroll said he didn't need me to come to their summer camp because they already know what kind of player I am. Coach Carroll says he likes me at defensive end and that's the position I prefer playing but if they needed me to play defensive tackle that would be fine with me, anything for the team."
