Micheal Calvin builds momentum

Micheal Calvin (6-3, 195, 4.5) from San Lorenzo (Calif.) was flying under the radar until he attended a camp at Stanford last month. He was arguably the top wide-receiver that day and quickly caught the attention of numerous college coaches.

He ran a 4.48 forty and wowed onlookers with his 39 inch vertical jump. The attention escalated after an outstanding performance at a one-day camp at California last week.

"The Cal Camp went great," Calvin said. "After the camp one of the coaches from Cal called my coach and said they liked what they say. They want to see me in couple more situations and if they like what they see, I might get an offer. That's why I'm attending the two-day camp (June 13-15) at Cal."

Calvin also had a stand-out performance last Saturday at USC and the Trojans comments basically echoed those from the Golden Bear staff.

"They said I'm a great receiver," Calvin said. "I've only been playing football for a year and they said if I was more polished, they would have offered. They told me not to make an early commitment and they'll see how I perform this season."

Utah and Oregon State have offered Calvin and it shouldn't take long for other schools to follow. Calvin's top schools are Utah, Oregon, Oregon State, California and USC, with California and USC at the top of his list.

Last season Calvin had 27 receptions for 665 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Note: Micheal is the correct spelling.
