"It's really down to Notre Dame and USC," Wilson said. "I'm going to make my announcement on August 1. We start school on August 6, so I thought it would be a good time to get it done. I'm not sure if I'm going to have a press conference, but that's the day I'll announce," Wilson said.
Wilson also considered Florida, Colorado, Wake Forest and Ohio State before narrowing his choices to the Irish and Trojans. "I've visited both Notre Dame and USC and love them," Wilson said. "I got to know everything about them and they just stand out over everybody else. They are very similar as far as tradition and academic prestige are concerned. The weather and location are a big difference. California has a nicer weather, but I don't mind the cold. I was born in Denver and lived there for 14 years so I'm used to the snow.
"They also both have great coaches. Pete Carroll is very hands-on and intense. He's out there throwing passes and running drills. Charlie Weis is also a very hard worker and really prepares the team well. They are both proven winners and know a lot about the game."
Wilson says that he doesn't have a favorite between the two schools yet. "They are both 50/50," Wilson said. "I just plan to pray about it and take the next few weeks to decide. All the schools know that it's between these two so they've all backed off."
He reports a 3.0 GPA and a 950 SAT score.
