For those of you who have patiently waited for the Oaks Christian Lions to play some top competition, Friday was your night. Not only did Oaks Christian win the game, but they put on a show from start to finish in front of a sold-out Larabee Stadium. Oaks Christian's offense was unstoppable, and even referred to by many experts as "one of the best offenses I have seen while covering high school football." It comes as no surprise to those who have followed the program throughout the year, but it took the 59-13 thrashing of St. Bonaventure to cement themselves amongst the nation's elite.
The Future Is Bright
The 8,000 people in attendance at the Oaks Christian game Friday night caught a first-hand glimpse of the future at Troy, and let's just say it looks pretty bright. Future Trojans Marc Tyler and Marshall Jones put on a show in front of the packed crowd, proving why they are ranked so highly by Scout.com. Marc Tyler finished the night with 274 yards rushing on only 18 carries, also compiling five rushing touchdowns in the 59-13 win. Marshall Jones looked like a man possessed Friday evening, finishing the night with four carries for 25 yards, four receptions for 53 yards, 10 solo tackles, and an interception.
Best in Class…
When the monthly Recruiting Overview was released a few weeks back, Jahvid Best was mentioned as a player to keep an eye as the season progressed. Well Best showed why he is on a short list of prospects the Trojans are recruiting Friday night, putting up monster numbers in a win over St. Mary's. Best scored four touchdowns en route to a 412 yard game, rushing for 289 yards on 19 carries and catching two screen passes for 123 yards, both were for touchdowns.
Green Still Solid
Broderick Green surprised plenty of people two weeks ago when he came out and said he was still 100% committed to the Trojans of Southern California. Green continues to show why he is a five star back, racking up 136 yards and a touchdown on just 18 carries. Green also had two receptions for ten yards and a touchdown in the victory over McClella.
Little Has a Top 5
Greg Little of Durham (N.C.) Hillside is one the most sought after recruits in the nation, and rightfully so. Little holds offers from the nation's top programs, but just recently narrowed his list to a manageable top five. Little narrowed his list of suitors to Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC, Florida, and UNC. Click the following link to read up on Little and his thoughts on the schools in his top five.
Corp is Ready
In one of the most anticipated match-ups of the week, Aaron Corp and his Orange Lutheran teammates showed why they are a forced to be reckoned with. Corp led Orange Lutheran to a 47-17 victory over Valencia, going 17-25 with 228 yards and a touchdown through the air. But Corp did not stop there; he also gained 152 yards on the ground on just 11 carries, including a 78 yard scamper for a touchdown.
McKnight Still at Three
5 star running back Joe McKnight of River Ridge Christian (La.) has had three schools at the top of his list for some time now, and there is no change at the top. McKnight still claims a top three of USC, LSU, and Florida State. Click the following link to hear what McKnight had to say about the schools at the top of his list, including the Trojans of Southern Cal.
The Big Bang
USC is assembling what may be the greatest recruiting weekends in recent memory. The weekend of November 24th just keeps on growing, and there will be a special group of players at the Coliseum to watch the Trojans take on the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Below is the link to the updated official visit list.
Kristofer O'Dowd is one of the top linemen in the country, and rightfully so. O'Dowd, a five-star prospect, is one of the most physically impressive linemen I have seen come through the high school ranks. Scout.com contributor Jason Jewell was able to make it out to watch O'Dowd in action, and here were his thoughts.
Poly Turns to it's Playmaker
It's no question that Donovan Warren is one of the top cornerback prospects in the nation, but it is his production on the offensive side of the ball that has people talking about the 5-star prospect. Warren and his Jackrabbit teammates traveled south to San Diego this past weekend to take on Mira Mesa. Warren rushed for two touchdowns on the night, including an 11 yard run that broke a 6-6 tie with 2:12 seconds left in the game. The Jackrabbits were able to hold on over a talented Mira Mesa team 13-6.
Griffen catches USC vs Arizona game
The nation's top defensive end, Avondale (Ariz.) Agua Fria's Everson Griffen (6-4, 265), was in Tucson on Saturday to see Arizona host USC. For Griffen, it was an opportunity to see two of his top seven schools go head-to-head. "It was a fun game, both defenses really got after it," said Griffen. "It was defensive football the whole way." It was the first time Griffen has been able to see USC in person, and he's already relishing the opportunity to see them when he takes his official visit. "I'm going there when they play Notre Dame (on Thanksgiving weekend)," said Griffen. "I've got three of my trips set up but I don't know yet where my other two will go."
