Thursday practice report

The Trojans got in an hour and thirty minute practice Thursday afternoon and the offense looked very sharp. There was plenty of attention paid to the deep ball as well as hitting backs out of the backfield.

Steve Smith's and Chilo Rachal's injuries are still something of a mystery. Smith looked to be at full speed early in practice, but took himself to the trainer's table midway through practice and did not return. Chilo Rachal spent the entire first part of practice at the trainer's table but managed to loosen his ankle up enough to participate in a few plays. Tiny Malu appeared to be suffering from an injury as well, as Travis Draper and Nick Howell received reps at right guard. It looks like it will be Draper who gets the nod if both Rachal and Malu can't go on Saturday.

Allen Bradford received serious time at fullback today. He might not have all his blocking assignments down yet, but he will still be used as a viable option out of the backfield.

Chauncey Washington headed to the trainer's table and returned with a wrap under his left knee. It didn't appear to be anything serious, however, as he ripped off a long run against the scout team and looked to be going full speed.

Emmanuel Moody had a solid run as well, taking the ball off left tackle and starting up the sideline for a touchdown.

During the scrimmage, the first team's offense moved the ball very quickly against the second team defense. Fred Davis had a nice catch over the middle with Antwine Perez draped all over him. Booty then threw consecutive touchdown passes, the first to Travon Patterson over Mozique McCurtis, and the second to Dwayne Jarrett after Vincent Joseph was caught looking in the backfield.

Jamere Holland again attended practice and played catch with Luthur Brown.

Jeff Byers was also in attendance.
