Recruiting Catch-Up

Recruiting Catch-Up gives Trojan fans a one-stop-shop for all the recruiting news over the past week. Included in this week's edition are updates on Jahvid Best, Jordan Campbell, Joe McKnight, Eric Berry, Marc Tyler, Martin Coleman, and many more.

Campbell is a Trojan!

It is no stretch of the imagination to call Jordan Campbell of Norco HS the most liked recruit by message boards. Campbell recently became the tenth commitment for the class of 2007, and here is what he had to say.

The following is the Scouting Report done on Jordan this week.

Carroll Watches Best in Action

In what was a much needed bye week; USC head coach Pete Carroll hit the recruiting trail, viewing many of the top prospects left on the wish list in action. Saturday, Carroll got a chance to view four-star running back prospect Jahvid Best out of Salesian HS, and Best did not disappoint. Best ran for 264 yards and three touchdowns on the night, defeating St. Elizabeth 41-0 in the Bay Football League game.

Tyler Shows Up in "Rivalry Game"

There is no question that Marc Tyler is talented, but it seems that his statistics get better and better by the week. Friday night, both Oaks Christian and Oak Park headed into their match-up undefeated, but Oak Park was granted the misfortune of dealing with the giant that has become Oaks Christian football. Tyler got things going early, eventually rushing for a career high 308 yards four touchdowns, including runs of 80 and 92 yards. Tyler now has 1,278 yards and 21 touchdowns on 97 carries this year. Oaks Christian went on to win the game 55-7, which is actually one of their closest games in recent memory.

Ayles Gets Big Time Offer

USC has already taken commitments from two Orange Lutheran teammates in Aaron Corp and Michael Reardon, but the Trojan coaching staff took a step toward signing a third member when they offered junior tight end prospect Blake Ayles Friday night. There were multiple members on the USC coaching staff on hand to evaluate Ayles, and they came away impressed to say the least. Ayles, 6'4 235-pound junior, hauled in nine passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns in the 49-39 victory over Santa Margarita. Click the following link to read up on the game that earned Ayles a USC offer.

Steady Corp

Friday night was not only a big one for Blake Ayles, but also for current USC quarterback commitment Aaron Corp. Corp rushed for 112 yards on 15 carries and threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns, finishing the night 16-22.

Berry Visits Auburn

When it comes to cornerback prospects, there is a very short list of guys SC has offered. Eric Berry, who is ranked as the #1 cornerback prospect in the nation, recently tripped to Auburn. Here is what the five-star prospect had to say about his time spent with the Tigers.

McKnight May Visit Florida

Five-star running back prospect Joe McKnight of Curtis HS (La.) has had USC and LSU at the top of his for quite some time. But McKnight recently added Florida to that short list, and here is what he had to say about his remaining visits and the schools on the top of his board.

Green Solid in Victory

Running back commitment Broderick Green of Pulaski Academy continued his productivity Friday night as the Pulaski took on Crossett. Green rushed for 170 yards and a touchdown on just 13 carries, leading his team to a 48-6 victory.

Coleman Mid-Season Update

Martin Coleman and his Edison teammates took on Esperanza this past week in hope of earning some respect around the league. That plan backfired, as Esperanza took it to Edison while Trojan coach Pat Ruel watched from the stands. The following is a link on what Coleman had to say about his season so far and his status with SC. Top Stories
