Recruit Update: DT Joseph Barksdale

After being named to the U.S. Army All-American Game in September, Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech defensive tackle Joseph Barksdale (6-5.5, 315) is now targeting halftime of that game for his announcement on his college choice.

For Barksdale, it will be coming full circle from where he began to make a name for himself.

It was at the 2006 U.S. Army National Combine in January that Barksdale stood out amongst a talented group of defensive tackles. So it is fitting that his return to San Antonio will be where he makes his college plans known.

"I'm looking forward to playing in that game and announcing during the Army Game," said Barksdale.

In the meantime, Barksdale is trying to narrow his scope of schools down.

He has already visited Notre Dame officially, tripping there the weekend they played Michigan. He was set to visit LSU on November 10th but that will be changing.

"We are in the state playoffs that weekend so I have to change that trip with LSU," said Barksdale. "I might have to change my other trips too if we keep winning."

The two trips likely to be affected by Cass Tech victories in the playoffs are Ohio State and USC.

Barksdale is scheduled to visit Ohio State on November 17th when they host Michigan. The following weekend is when he was planning to visit Los Angeles and officially trip to USC the weekend the Trojans host Notre Dame.

He's also set up his fifth trip, this one to Florida State on December 8th. And though he doesn't plan to visit Miami or Tennessee, Barksdale said both are still under consideration for his college plans.
