Recruit to watch - DT Alex Morrow

WeAreSC.com recently spoke with rising defensive lineman Alex Morrow out of Rancho Cotate High School in Rohnert Park, California, which is about an hour drive north of the San Francisco Bay area, and he had the following update for us…

Alex Morrow is a 6'6", 260 pound defensive lineman who is all about football. He certainly has the athleticism for other sports, but is committed to being the best gridiron player he can be. Morrow runs a 4.71 forty, has a 35.9" vertical, can squat 450 pounds, and also benches out at a max of 375. He was 1st Team All-League as well as 1st Team All-Empire as a junior and has his sights set on being the league and conference MVP this fall. Alex played defensive end and defensive tackle as a junior racking up 55 tackles and 6 sacks (which was no easy feat as most teams ran away from him). He also played tackle on offense. He wears number 60. Morrow has run track competing in the 100 meters and 4x100 relay events. His personal record in the 100 is 11.9 seconds. Additionally, he recently set his schools power clean record with a lift of 325 pounds. Weight Training is his main hobby away from football.

Alex currently has a list of five schools which are his favorites as follows: USC, UCLA, Arizona, Oregon, and Washington. All but UCLA have offered. Morrow will most likely trip to all five of his favorites as he said that all five schools are even right now. He will make a college decision after taking his trips and discussing everything with his parents.

Morrow attended the Stanford Nike Camp, but was sick and unable to do much but watch. He lists his strengths as his size, speed, and power. He loves to bull rush and certainly has the frame for a pass rushing lineman. The main weakness he stated was just to improve everyday. His favorite player is Brian Urlacher of the Bears, which fits his style of attitude and play between the hash marks.

When asked about what interested him about USC, Alex liked the idea of a private school, the direction the program is headed, and the fact it is in Southern California. Morrow lived in Burbank from 1993 to 1995 and still loves Los Angeles. He has been in touch with coach Holt and has also spoken with coach Carroll. He is fully qualified with a GPA of 2.5 and an SAT of 930. Alex will probably major in Engineering in college.
