Harris commits to USC

Serra DT Da'John Harris, ranked as the #7 player at his position in the country by Scout.com, has given a verbal commit to attend USC.

Harris, who has long been considered a Trojan lean, announced his committment tonight during the Offense-Defense All-American game held in Florida.

"I love Pete Carroll and the coaching staff," Harris said. I believe we have the No. 1 defense in the country and I want to be a part of it. Family played a big role in my decision. I want them to see me play.".

Da'John also had offers from Michigan, Miami, Oregon, Nebraska and Washington among others but after his trip to USC in mid-December there was speculation that the decision had been made. Harris had originally earned a Trojan offer after a dominating performance at the SC lineman camp last summer when his quickness off the ball was too much for the offensive linemen to handle.

Harris is the No. 1 rated defensive tackle on the West Coast and he'll be a nice addition ot the Trojan's 2007 defensive line class, which includes Scout.com's No. 1 ranked defensive end, Everson Griffen.
