Morrell Presley commits to USC

The talent Saturday at the USC Skills Camp was not as deep as year's past, but Carson HS (CA) junior-to-be tight end Morrell Presley put on a show, earning him a scholarship offer from the Trojans. Presley wasted little time in making a decision, giving the USC staff a verbal commit before leaving campus. Click below to read more and to watch highlight footage of Presley from the camp.

Presley committed to the Trojans over offers from Arizona, WSU and Oregon among others.

"I was offered by USC today actually," said Presley after a dominating performance at the Skills Camp. "They said I was working hard and left it all out on the field. This doesn't change things though, because I need to keep working hard."

Presley definitely left it all on the field Saturday, making circus catches seem routine on nearly every play. Presley was far and away the top player in attendance Saturday, and is excited about his future as a Trojan.

"I committed on the spot," said an excited Presley. "I like their offense, and the pace of the camp was incredible. The coaches were real fired up, and there was a lot of excitement out there today. The coaches are real honest with you, and they do not beat around the bush."

Presley, who will only be a junior at Carson HS this fall, had trouble putting into words the emotions running through his mind, and for good reason.

"I really can't explain this feeling right now," he said. "Its beyond words. SC is close to home and it has everything I want in a college, so I didn't see a reason to waste any more time. My mom is excited for me, excited that I am going to college too."

Presley made a point from the first play to haul in anything and everything thrown his way, grabbing the attention of nearly everyone in attendance.

"I focused the entire time," he said. "I didn't let the defensive backs get in my head. I just went out there and had fun playing the game I love."

Now a commitment for the class of 2009, Presley will begin making his presence common on the Southern California campus, starting with the camps this summer.

"I'm definitely going to start showing my face around a little more," said Presley. "I'll be out there for some of the camps and for practice when they get started."

The commitment from Presley was a big one, as the Trojans now have two top prospects committed for the class of 2009, including Dominguez HS linebacker Marquis Simmons. WeAreSC.com will keep you up to speed from the Lineman Camp at USC tomorrow, stay tuned!
