Quotable Carroll

SCPlayBook.com caught up with USC Trojan Head Coach Pete Carroll and got his thoughts on Thursday's scrimmage.

Carroll on the scrimmage:

"I'm really pleased with it. We got another opportunity to see a lot of guys again. I thought it was crisp, a lot of good things happened. A lot of guys caught the ball well…John David Booty was really sharp. The protection was really good for him. Patrick (Patrick Turner) was on the money, Fred Davis looked good. On the offensive side I really liked the offensive lines pass protection."

Carroll on Broderick Green:

"We got a great look at Broderick Green tonight. I thought he really did some stuff, he was alive, he was hard to tackle, did real well in the open field and ran over a couple of guys. So it was a real plus to see him tonight… I was really pumped up about the way he ran tonight."

Carroll on the running back position:

"The position just seems a lot more solidified than it was a year ago. And it feels like these guys are gonna make some plays. We got some tough decisions. But we still have a couple weeks to figure it out."

Carroll on the special teams:

The kickers kicked the ball really well. Woidneck pounded it…The returners looked very solid catching the ball. Vincent Joseph is doing a heck of a job. He's making a real pitch for himself as the starting kickoff returner.

Carroll Mitch Mustain:

I thought Mitch Mustain lit it up. He looked great out there…I was fired up for Mitch, he kinda looked like he did against us at Arkansas.
