Quoting Carroll - Idaho Postgame

Kevin Carden of SCPlayBook caught up with Pete Carroll after Saturday's win over Idaho.

On Idaho:

"Rob's got a real tough team playing out there. They battled the whole way. They did good stuff. They lined up well and gave us a good hard night's work. I'm pleased to get this first game behind us."

On playing freshmen:

"Kristofer O'Dowd, that's an enormous amount of responsibility for a young kid and he did just fine in there for his first game. And getting Ronald Johnson in the game and Joe(McKnight) in the game, we have really accomplished something by doing that."

On Stafon Johnson:

"It was a really good game for Stafon Johnson. I'm really pleased that he got to show what he's been doing on our practice field…He looks like a really good football player for us."

On Stanley Havili:

"Obviously, I think you can see that Stanley Havili is gonna really be a big time football player for us." On Brian Cushing:

"He sprained his ankle. I think this will be something that will be a little bit close for him to get back. It's probably like a ten day deal. And so we'll nurse him on back and get him ready for the ball game."

On the upcoming Nebraska game:

"We know we have a very difficult match up coming up in two weeks and we have a long ways to go. Hopefully Patrick(Turner) will come back and Josh Pinkard will come back…We think they will both have a chance to do that, Chauncey(Washington) as well."
