Quoting Carroll: Tuesday Practice

SCPlayBook's Kevin Carden caught up with USC Trojan Head Coach Pete Carroll after practice on Tuesday and got his thoughts on Brian Cushing, Idaho, Nebraska, and other topics.

On the Mario Danelo Tribute:

"I loved the idea. I just couldn't believe that we could pull it off at first thought. The more I thought about it the more I liked it. It's a great idea, it was just whether or not we could do it or not. It was a great opportunity.

I don't know how everyone else took it but it was meaningful for us. And it was certainly meaningful for those guys that were so close to Mario. And it felt good to take a real special moment along with everything else that was going on. I was pleased with the way it came off."

On Idaho Film:

"I got a chance to take a couple of days and look at the film and evaluate. There is a lot of stuff on our film that we are going to improve on and get better…

This week and next week are really going to be dedicated to getting our game real sharp in all areas. We did some real nice stuff and saw some things that we're gonna be very vulnerable at if we don't improve on them against a really good team. We are kinda pumped about it as coaches and we have a chance to work on some stuff."

On Nebraska:

"We got a look at Nebraska. We're not ready to game plan yet but they looked really good in their opening game in all phases. They really were clicking and they were balanced on offense with a ton of running game. And they looked good on the defensive side."

On Brian Cushing:

"Cushing is real good. His ankle is not nearly as bad as we thought. He doesn't have any swelling so he's going to make it back before too long."

On Mark Sanchez:

"He's all but ready. He gets x-rays tonight, but probably by Thursday or Friday he will throw the ball a little bit and we'll see how he takes to it and then start bringing him back. We've really missed him and it will be great to have him back out here."

On Marc Tyler:

"Marc Tyler got his first work and he's released to work his way back now. So that's exciting for us to see him joining the fray here."

On the Wide Receivers:

"They really played well and they blocked really well and they got after it. Vidal (Hazelton) and David (Ausberry) did a very good job. Brad (Walker) played a nice game too. I was really fired up about that."
