Part of the excitement was having Patrick Turner (yellow shirt) and Chauncey Washington back at full speed. No contact, but nice game speed for both players. Washington, in particular is chomping at the bit for game time. When he is cleared , look for Mr. Washington to burst forth with pent up energy.
On the Sidelines
Legendary Wendell Tyler was on the sidelines, supporting his son, true freshman tailback, Marc Tyler, as he has begun to take handoffs this week. Also on the sidelines, but more every day figures included Pete Arbogast, Paul McDonald (son Michael is a back-up quarterback) and recent Trojan football alumnus, Brandon Hancock. Former Trojan cornerback Justin Wyatt was also in attendance.
Injuries and Observations
Brian Cushing was on the field, but not dressed in pads. Chauncey Washington
and Hershel Dennis did some work at tailback. Washington looks almost ready to
take the field. Broderick Green put aside his "T-Mac Go Cart" and
walked on the field aided by crutches.
Matt Spanos did not participate in contact drills. Joe McKnight is markedly more mobile than he has been the last two weeks. Trey Henderson, with a smile on his face continues his strengthening exercises on the sidelines. Kaluka Maiava was in full gear and worked hard.
John David Booty and Fred Davis had a nice connection going, the two pairing up for some impressive pass receptions. Patrick Turner is getting up to game speed. Joe McKnight is getting more looks as he improves his health. Stafon Johnson ran the ball well. Washington and Dennis continue their tedious rehabilitation efforts to return to the field.
On the defensive side of the ball, Everson Griffen had a couple of nice stops at the line of scrimmage. Cary Harris continues to take reps in the absence of Josh Pinkard. Kyle Moore and Griffen are working at the defensive end position opposite Lawrence Jackson.
