Quoting Carroll - Postgame

SCPlayBook's Kevin Carden caught up with USC Head Coach Pete Carroll after the game Saturday Night to get his thoughts on the Trojans' dominating performance.

Pete Carroll on the Trojans offensive performance:

"Sark did a beautiful job of spreading the ball around. We got a lot of guys work. It was great to see Chauncey (Washington) got his first start and he ran beautifully. Stafon(Johnson) continued to make plays. He had one run that was just amazing stuff that he does and we are really thrilled with what he is doing.

Also to get a chance to get Joe(McKnight) in the game when he can stay in the there and run the football a little bit and get him started. I don't know he averaged about 8 yards a carry or something. He's just getting warmed up, so that's a really good positive for us.

Freddy (Davis) had a heck of a game tonight. He's just played three beautiful games and done consistently everything throughout those games. Tonight we had a chance to go to him and John David(Booty) was rock solid."

On how the Trojans responded after an emotional win last week:

"I really liked this game tonight in response to coming off the Nebraska game. I think that people might normally think that after a game like that, a big emotional game on the road, hyped up and all, that maybe your team wouldn't respond.

That's not what happened, these guys played like crazy tonight. I thought in the first half just the offense and defense playing together and kind of complementing one another and everything that was going on really felt like we were playing together. I'm really pleased about that."

On tight end Fred Davis:

"Freddy (Davis) had a heck of a game tonight. He's just played three beautiful games and done consistently everything throughout those games. Tonight we had a chance to go to him and John David(Booty) was rock solid….

Freddy is one of the best tight ends in America. He's really, really a terrific football player for us. The thing we want Freddy to do is run with the ball; get him some space so he can run. You can see he's jumping over guys and bouncing off of people and making things happen."

On the development of the running backs:

"We are a lot different than we were last year at that spot. Even though some of the guys are the same guys we are just more effective making things happen with the ball. Chauncey (Washington) is just tough to tackle right now. Stafon (Johnson) the first guy almost never gets him and you can see Joe(McKnight) make them miss and Allen Bradford can do it.

We are better then we were last year in that regard."

On linebacker Keith Rivers:

"I don't know how you can be a whole lot better than Keith (Rivers). He's doing everything; he knows what he is doing. He is very skilled at the scheme pass defense-wise and in the running game he made a bunch of tackles at the line of scrimmage. He's a great player and we are just thrilled he's on our team."

On Joe McKnight:

"The plan was to get him in there and run just normal stuff and let him get some plays. I thought Joe (McKnight) responded really well. He's just getting started, Joe is just getting started. He is an exciting, exhilarating player, and he's got a lot of great plays in him in time. He's a real fun dimension to have that we are just starting to get moving in the right direction."
