DeLaSalle players to watch

The Spartans have won a national record 129 games in a row, a streak which dates back to 1991, and this team features at least one senior and a few underclassmen who could be recruited by the Trojans. #1 DeLaSalle will play #2 Long Beach Poly on Saturday in a game that will be televised on Fox Sports Net 2 at 7:00pm.

#21 Maurice Drew (RB/LB)

Had the game of his life in the game of the century last year with four touchdowns but has been slowed early this year by a sore ankle.  That didn't stop him from putting on a highlight film 94 yard KO return last week.  Has been offered as a RB by many schools but the Trojans talked to him at one point about the possibility of playing corner.

#25 Damon Jenkins (CB) 5-11, 175

Also a terrific kick returner along with Drew.  Damon has been named All-State underclass two years in a row and has the talent to match-up with any receiver.  He is a rare 3-year starter at DLS but has been battling a sore shoulder that caused him to miss last week.  Qualifying is a concern.

#77 Troy Binswanger (K) 6-1, 175

Hit a 42-yard field goal in the win over St. Louis and put six kickoffs into the end zone last week including one that hit the crossbar.

#15 Willie Glasper (CB) 5-10, 175

Excellent speed for this player who has really matured in the past year.  Willie is expected to be one of the top CB recruits in the country next year.

#26 Cameron Colvin (WR) 6-0, 185

His coaches describe Colvin as a great leaper with size and that's a pretty good combination for a receiver.  Had a breakout game in Hawaii against St. Louis and there are some at the school who think he could have the type of impact in this game as Drew had last year.

#22 Jackie Bates (RB) 5-9, 175

Jackie is a scatback who is one of the fastest guys on the team.  He also starts at safety but will be the primary ballcarrier next season. Top Stories
