USC offered Los Angeles (Calif.) Roosevelt fullback Jody Adewale a scholarship after the Trojans win over Cal last Saturday and he wasted no time in accepting it fulfilling now only his dream but the dreams of his parents as well.
Jody Adewale, 5-11, 210 pounds is one of the top fullback prospects in the West region, arguably the No. 2 fullback behind Stanford bound Emeka Nnoli in the state. He had a huge junior season rushing for 1,660 yards and 25 touchdowns to earn 1st team All-League and All-City honors.
Adewale is having an even bigger senior season prompting the Trojans to offer the fullback over the weekend.
"He committed on the spot," Sunday Adewale, Jody's father said. "It's been a dream of his to go to USC ever since he was a kid and to be honest, it was a dream of mine and my wife's as well.
"I desperately wanted to go to USC but I only had a 2.8 GPA and plus I don't think I could have afforded it. I think USC is the greatest school in the world. The networking system they have in place is unreal and I love the family atmosphere. It's just a wonderful place athletically and academically. My wife and I were singing praises all weekend."
Adewale had a solid showing at the SoCal Nike Camp running a 4.68 in the 40, 4.53 in the shuttle and did 19 reps on the bench. He'll need to put on about 20 pounds or so to make the transition from tailback to fullback in college but has the frame to do so easily. The commitment is the eighth of the year for the Trojans thus far.
