Pete Carroll said he is pleased to be a part of the tribute and thankful that they could honor the memories of two wonderful young men.
"I think it is going to be a really nice tribute. They are going to be with us in the tunnel and the families are going to come down last and they will come down together," said Carroll. "It's an extraordinary tragedy for their families and any joy that we can be a part generating and help them continue to feel a part of the Trojan Family is worth it. I hope it is meaningful and special for them."
Moala, Rivers to Start
USC defensive tackle Fili Moala returned to practice today and is expected to start this Saturday against UCLA. Linebacker Keith Rivers has practiced all week and said he is ready to start his final game at the Coliseum.
"Fili (Moala) was fine today. He is back," Pete Carroll said. "Keith was a little sore today after the work during the week so we quieted him down some but he still will play. I plan on him starting."
Last Game at Coliseum?
Pete Carroll was able to have a little fun with all the reports that Saturday could be the Trojans last game at the Coliseum.
When asked if it would cross his mind that this could be his last game at the Coliseum Carroll chuckled and sarcastically answered, "That's our battle cry. When we go in the locker room for the last time ever we are going to be so fired up."
Pete Carroll has commented all week about how pleased he has been with the team's preparation to play UCLA.
"It has been a very upbeat, strong week for us. I'm really pleased with the work that we have had, good tempo and all that stuff," said Carroll.
Carroll also acknowledged that last year's preparation had a much different feel to it and it was something that caused him concern.
"I was much more concerned last year at this time. We had worked hard that week but I was very concerned last year," said Carroll. "I didn't feel as good about our preparation the last time around. The last game sometimes can be different but this one doesn't feel like it. It feels like we are being built up for a championship game."
Mitch Mustain, Allen Bradford and Damian Williams were a very impressive trio for the scout team today. Bradford looked good gaining some tough yards and Mustain hit Williams in stride for a 30-yard touchdown.
