Quoting Carroll: Sunday Scrimmage

The USC Trojans held a scrimmage on Sunday highlighted by the play of Mitch Mustain and Damian Williams. Kevin Carden caught up with USC Head Coach Pete Carroll to get his thoughts on Sunday's scrimmage.

Pete Carroll on today's scrimmage:

"In terms of just the guys being into it, and having fun playing football, we installed a lot of stuff today and got a lot of guys looks. MarcTyler did a lot of good things. Mitch (Mustain) had a terrific finish. I thought obviously Damian Williams had a great scrimmage today. Allen Bradford ran the ball real well. We really wanted to see these guys get some reps and some turns where they could start battling for what's coming up here in the future. It was just a really good hard hitting scrimmage. We got the final full speed work we are going to get before the preparation for the ballgame. I thought the hitting was real crisp today. We really accomplished a lot."

Pete Carroll on the play of Damian Williams:

"He made plays in very difficult situations and was very tough about making the catches in traffic and made big plays. It was obvious that Mitch (Mustain) sees one guy out there right now. He knows his guy and he went to him. Sark was calling stuff to give him a chance. We really wanted to see Damian (Williams) today and we hoped to see him and (Brandon) Carswell in this last closing scrimmage and Damian just jumped out and jumped off the charts today."

Pete Carroll on next week's schedule:

"We have finals here. We have three days of test and papers to be finished so they are going to get three solid days of academics. All of our lifting will be optional right now for them. This is the final push to get all of their grades knocked out and then we come back on Thursday and now we are into game plan mode."

Pete Carroll on Mitch Mustain and Damian William's chemistry:

"There is no question that there is a chemistry there and it was exciting to see how obvious it was. They are familiar, they have been playing together since they were little kids and it showed today."
