Clay de Leon Highlights Saturday Practice from Howard Jones Field
Practice was short (1-1/2 hours) but fast and intense. With just one full practice left, the excitement and intensity builds around the football team. Emotions are at a high pitch as the Trojans wrap up the second to the last full practice at Howard Jones Field.
Patrick Turner Gives it a Try
Patrick Turner was on the field with pads, trying to make a comeback. When describing his day's work, Turner said, "It's going alright, it's progressing, I just have to keep working, hopefully it'll be okay by game time." When asked how much work he got accomplished, he replied, "I just did warm-ups and tried to do a little bit of individual (workout), I just worked on my quad."
About Turner, Pete Carroll said, "He ran a little bit, not enough to really make a dent, we'll see how he does tomorrow. He's dying to play in the game, we'll just see what happens, see how he does."
Faces in the Crowd
Brent Musburger was on the sidelines observing today's practice. T.J. Simers also attended his first USC practice of the year. Pete Carroll questioned Simers, asking him if he came out just to get Carroll's opinion on the Rick Neuheisel hire across town. It is interesting that Simers has not been to any practices until today.
Minor Fender Benders
On the sidelines, for at least a little while was Brent Yoshida, who was shaken up on a play and Joe McKnight, who was fitted with a knee brace as a precautionary measure. Jeff Byers worked out with an elbow brace.

Practice Winding Down
During the full team session, Booty passed to Desmond Reed and Fred Davis. Hershel Dennis got off a couple of nice runs. Practice ended early, at just about 3:00 p.m. There will be just one final practice tomorrow on campus, then a closed walk-through on Monday.
