One player that has been a major priority for USC this year is Long Beach Poly HS (CA), defensive tackle Jurrell Casey. The 6-2, 282-pound defensive tackle just got home from his official visit to USC when we contacted him and he had nothing but great things to say about the trip.
"It was real good. I had a nice time, I would rate it an 8.5," Casey said.
Being from Long Beach Poly, which has long been a pipeline to USC, Casey is very familiar with the USC program but said his visit allowed him to get more of a feel for the players and the coaching staff.
"All the players are real cool and the coaches are great," said Casey. "The school has great academic programs and the campus is nice. It was nice going out there."
When asked what he enjoyed most about the trip Casey replied, "Just hanging out with the all the players on the team. Luthur Brown was my host and he was real cool."
While hanging out with the players was the highlight of the weekend Casey said he was initially drawn to USC because of Pete Carroll and the coaching staff.
"They are a great program and have been consistent every year. The coaches are real great. I like their energy when I go watch them practice," Casey explained. "It's crazy over there. It's more of my style of playing football."
Much like teammate Vaughn Telemaque, Jurrell Casey is strongly considering USC and Oregon. While Telemaque has recently stated that he favors Oregon, Casey has been leaning towards the Trojans for a while and his visit this weekend helped to solidify the Trojans as his top school.
When asked if the two players want to go to the same school he replied, "Yeah we talk about the same school but we both want to be comfortable and make sure we feel right at the school."
With the USC visit behind him Casey said he is done taking visits and that his recruitment is down to just two schools. "USC and Oregon are the top two. Right now USC is on top," Casey said.
Casey said he plans to announce his college choice in the next few weeks on Fox Sports Net.
