Cottonwood HS (UT) offensive lineman John Martinez is rated one of the top 100 players in the 2009 recruiting class by Scout. The 6-3, 250-pound lineman has received several new offers in the last few weeks bringing his total to eleven.

While Martinez has offers from Arizona, Miami, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Utah, Oregon State, Kansas State and BYU, the two offers that have caught his eye are from USC and LSU.

When asked about his top schools Martinez replied, "LSU and USC are tied at first, then Oklahoma State is second and BYU would be third."

The big lineman was blown away by the game day experience in Baton Rouge and likes the intensity and passion of the LSU fan base.

"I have never seen so many people at a game before. They have 90,000 people and like 30,000 people outside just tailgating. I have never seen so many people in my life," Martinez said of Baton Rouge.

As for USC, Martinez attended the Last Chance Camp at USC and it gave him a chance to get familiar with the entire USC coaching staff.

"I went to USC's Last Chance Camp and I like the environment over there. They are right by the beach and I love their coaching staff, too," said Martinez. "They are really pumped up and energetic. I like Pete Carroll and Pat Ruel. They are very cool guys."

While at the Last Chance Camp last summer Martinez got a chance to talk with USC's offensive line coach Pat Ruel and was very impressed with Ruel's knowledge and honesty.

"He's a really good guy. I like his personality and stuff," Martinez said of Ruel. "There is something about him that is just straight-forward."

This summer the talented lineman will be busy with his high school team but also plans on attending some camps including USC's Rising Stars Camp.

"I am actually going to the Rising Stars Camp at USC and I might go to Florida," Martinez said.

While Martinez is already receiving attention from some of the top programs in the nation he plans to take his official visits and be patient with his choice.

"I am probably going to wait until letter of intent day," said Martinez.
