Quoting Carroll: Thursday Practice

The Trojans had another spirited practice on Tuesday highlighted by the play of Allen Bradford, Malcolm Smith and Kyle Moore. SCPlaybook caught up with Coach Carroll to get his thoughts on practice and much more.

Pete Carroll on Thursday's practice:

"It was a really good practice. Everything from the start to finish was just hyped up. We adjusted a little bit because we are coming back to back days here. It was a little bit shorter today. The tempo was beautiful, the intensity and the fun out here was there. I can't wait to go up and see the film right now. Really good work, really good stuff happened. A lot of guys looking good and a lot of guys are hustling and competing, you can feel it. A lot of guys can sense the opportunity and they are going for it."

Pete Carroll on the wide receivers:

"It just feels like they are just experienced. We feel like we have a good, solid, experienced group. All of these guys got a lot of time last year that helped them but we weren't really as productive as we needed to be and as we were accustomed to having. Fortunately, the tight end position picked up a lot of that slack last year. These guys are really out here gunning for it and you see that Damian Williams is going to be a factor, too. He is going to be in the middle of all of this. It's a good group and it just seems different."

Pete Carroll on the play of Allen Bradford:

"He really does look good, he really does look good. He looks very fast and he is catching the ball well. He has had a great off-season and he is really determined to make a statement here in this spring camp."

Pete Carroll on Christian Tupou:

"We love the way the guy plays. He is the most complete effort guy that you could hope for. He just chases the ball and gives you everything that he's got. Now he's learning the position and learning all the nuances and stuff. He's got a lot to grow here but he is going to get a ton of opportunities….I love playing with him because he plays so tough."

Pete Carroll on C.J. Gable:

"He looks great, he looks full speed. He has had a great off-season and he is fully back. He's always been a really well-rounded player. I remember right from the beginning when he first got here he would block and he would catch the ball well and he ran got routes and all that kind of stuff. So he is probably the guy that is best equipped for everything that we are doing right now."

Pete Carroll on Malcolm Smith:

"Coming off of last season our expectations are very high for him. He is really an instinctive kid. We know he is a great all-around athlete….We've got a real instinctive kid. He's got to grow into the position, he's one of the smaller guys that we have but he really has some special aspects to the way he plays. I thought last year he looked like the most instinctive guy we have had as a freshman at that spot."
