Quoting Carroll: Thursday Practice

Rey Maualuga and the USC defense really turned up the intensity at Thursday's practice. SCPlaybook was there and caught up with Head Coach Pete Carroll to get his thoughts on a variety of topics.

Pete Carroll on Thursday's practice:

"Right from the start we were smoking, tempo-wise and it looked even more heated than normally. It carried all the way through the practice and it was just a fevered pitch at practice today. I thought the coaches did a great job of getting these guys ready to get out here and do it and the players responded."

Pete Carroll on the intensity at practice:

"We're trying to take our ability to perform to such a high level that you have to hit the threshold sometimes to find out where you can go and where you can't and today was a gorgeous day for intensity. To have a day like this on a Thursday afternoon man is just awesome. I'm really fired up about this team."

Pete Carroll on Cooper Stephenson's performance at long snapper:

"Cooper Stephenson has really picked up the snapping on the field goal team. The timing and the stuff is starting to come together and that's a big step forward for us. We were a little concerned about that going in, but he's really improved."

Pete Carroll on Saturday's scrimmage:

"We've got a big scrimmage on Saturday. It's a big day for us out here. Some guys won't get as much work in this scrimmage because of what they have shown and other guys will get more work. That's just to make sure that we have as much information as possible going into that final week."
