Quoting Carroll: Saturday Scrimmage

The defense put on a dominant performance at Saturday's scrimmage led by the play of cornerback Shareece Wright. SCPlaybook was there and caught up with Pete Carroll to get his thoughts on the scrimmage and much more.

Pete Carroll on Saturday's scrimmage:

"I thought the defense played really good today. It was much more a defensive dominated day, which was nice to see. This was a good solid day of defense and I was happy to see that."

Pete Carroll on the defensive standouts:

"I thought the linebackers showed up. I thought (Chris) Galippo and Jordan Campbell did some nice stuff today. Clay (Matthews) looked good coming off the edge too. Those are the guys that jumped out."

Pete Carroll on the running backs:

"I think it was a good day to see guys. We saw C.J. (Gable) do some good stuff again and Allen Bradford continues to have a great spring. Broderick (Green) got quite a few carries today. I don't know what the numbers were yet but we wanted to make sure and give him some good shots."

Pete Carroll on the play of the secondary:

"Shareece (Wright) had a terrific sequence in there; he must have made four plays in a row and then a pick. He was real disappointed in how he played last week and he came back and had a big day today. Will Harris did show up a number of times up on the running game and made some nice hits. That was good to see."

Pete Carroll on Joe McKnight's absence:

"That's an academic related thing. He had to drop a class that put him under twelve units so he was not eligible to play today….I'm disappointed, but that was coming and he didn't take care of business in one particular class…. His eligibility is not in question at all for Fall."

Pete Carroll on David Buehler and Greg Woidneck:

"I think he is doing really well. There is no question that he's got the lead on this job and he's kicked the ball deeper than the other guys on the kickoffs and continues to hit everything that we are asking him to hit on field goals. He's doing a really good job and Greg (Woidneck) is punting the ball really well too."
