Quoting Carroll: Spring Scrimmage

The Trojans ended spring with an eventful scrimmage in front of an estimated 22,000 fans at the LA Coliseum. SCPlaybook was there and caught up with Pete Carroll to get the coaches thoughts on the scrimmage, Mark Sanchez and much more.

Pete Carroll on the spring scrimmage:

"It gave us a chance to see a lot of guys play in game-like situations and also play under the pressure of winning and losing. I was feeling it, it was like a game out there and I know they felt it too."

Pete Carroll on the overall performance this spring:

"The first thing is to get an attitude about the way we practice and the way we work and that was obvious from the first day and we maintained it throughout. This is a very exciting team. They got a lot of energy, they got a lot of toughness and we have a lot of speed. If we can keep working and put things together we have a chance to have a nice team."

Pete Carroll on the quarterbacks:

"He's (Mark Sanchez) assumed that spot very comfortably. He asserted himself in the huddle and with his guys. I thought he took to it very well. Both Mitch (Mustain) and Aaron (Corp) didn't back off a step. They obviously came out and performed really well today but I think it was clear that this was the right decision for us at this time and I thought Mark looked great. Remember Mark played against our first defense all day today and he had an excellent day."

Pete Carroll on the play of the running backs:

"Standing behind Stafon Johnson and watching him run out here, he and C.J. (Gable), those guys are going to be a big threat for us now. They are fantastic football players. You could feel it out here and that makes me feel good about the running game and having a chance on the ground which will make everything come together."

Pete Carroll on Chris Galippo:

"He made a lot of plays today. Gosh, he was all over the place. There was one sequence were he was making every play it seemed like. He's a real baller. He's just a natural, instinctive player."
