Carroll post game radio comments

"I don't want to be an up and down program, I want to be consistently moving ahead by winning the games you're supposed to win and then winning the big games and that's when you put together a real style about your program."

Petros Papadakis

"Talk about the impact of Troy Polamalu."

Pete Carroll

"He's a great football player, he's a great Trojan, he's just such a wonderful kid, so humble and everything.  He means so much to us because you could see tonight, he's feeling a little bit better and we used him so much.  There's nothing that we do that he doesn't do really well.  Whether you send him to pressure, to cover or give him deep responsibilities, he doubled a couple times on Johnson, he can do it all.  Everybody just kind of waits for Troy in leadership situations, he always steps up, he always does something and we're always just waiting to see what happens next."

Paul McDonald

"Do you wish you had another bye?  You seem to put up big numbers each week this year coming out of bye weeks."

Carroll

"Yeah, we're good at the byes man.  I'll tell you, we've got a good system going right now and I'm happy, our guys understand what we're trying to accomplish, we practice real hard and we're consistent.  That's the key to what's going on, we're consistent in the way we're preparing.  That's why this type of game is important to a coach because we play a team that's struggling and we go out and get em.  That's what should happen if you're ready, if you're prepared and if you respect the game and all.  I'm really pleased because it was so important for me to get that point across to our players. I don't want to be an up and down program, I want to be consistently moving ahead by winning the games you're supposed to win and then winning the big games and that's when you put together a real style about your program."

McDonald

"The Trojan offense is red hot right now.  Talk to us about what's going on with the offense."

Carroll

"It really is just fitting together so well right now in so many different ways, it's almost like he's confused with which way to go next; do I throw it to Mike or to Keary or do I run the football with Justin…I mean there's just so many good weapons.  We looked at it early on and felt we had a lot of guys that we could do some good stuff with and it's getting there, it fits really well right now.  Norm is really in control, he's creating a great flow of the game.  We're not really concerned with going to any one guy, we just try to go with whatever we think we can make happen and that makes for a lot of tough things for a defense to deal with."

McDonald

"You're the defensive genius, how would you try to defend this offense?"

Carroll

"Oh, we'd kill em, we'd kill em.  I know all their checks, you know.  Seriously, it's very difficult, we do have our problems even in practice because we compete every day in practice at some time or another in some area of football.  It's really kind of a competitive good battle, the kind we hoped to have on our practice field."

Pete Arbogast

"Coach, Carson had another big game and some those yards came after the outcome was decided.  Was the thinking to get him more numbers for the Heisman Trophy chatter that's going on?"

Carroll

"No, we just keep moving it.  I really didn't want to leave here with a feeling that we kind of messed it up in the fourth quarter.  I wanted to keep the momentum going because right now we need our mindset strong and we need to be tough as can be to finish these three games off.  I didn't want to allow for any dips at all."

Arbogast

"There are a lot of scenarios for possible bowl bids including a potential BCS invitation."

Carroll

"We'll see what happens.  The important thing is that we go out and get this next game. I don't even know the scenarios to tell you the truth, I know I'm dumb about this but I don't even know what they are and it doesn't matter to me."

Arbogast

"You are such a coach."

Carroll

"I really should know but I don't, I can't help you guys.  What's BCS stand for anyways?"

Arbogast

"You're bowl eligible coach, that's all that matters.  Homecoming coming up next week and we'll talk with you next week."
