USC Lineman Camp Review

On a hot Father's Day afternoon, high school athletes lined-up on Howard Jones-Brian Kennedy Field for the 2008 Lineman Camp. There was some talent in the trenches, and the highlight of the camp coming in the last hour of one-on-one, where there was spirited competition on both sides of the line.

A familiar face, Lenny Vandermade, who played on the offensive line for the Trojans 1999-2003, helped with coaching duties. Vandermade will be in his final year as graduate assistant at San Diego State University. Vandermade says he would love to work with the Trojans after his work with the Aztecs is completed.

There was about 200 attendees at this camp, although the competition level was not as high as in 2007. USC's lone lineman commit for 2009, Kevin Graf did not attend camp, but he is expected to participate in the USC Rising Stars Camp on June 25.

Some of the standouts at the camp includes:

Joshua Letalu, DT, El Camino HS (Oceanside)

Will Sutton, DT, Corona Centennial High

Nick Losoya, OL, Mater Dei High School

Corin Brooks, OT, Servite High School

Everett Bernard III, OT, San Diego Cathedral High School

Jeremy Bethell, DT, West High School (Bakersfield)

Up and coming players:

Michael Mitchell, OL/DL, Crespi High School

Alberto Cid, OL-DL, West Covina

Nick Abele, DL, Irvine High School

SCPlaybook will bring updates on some of the camp standouts in the next few days.
