U.S. Olympic Trials Results
USC senior Rebecca Soni swam a lifetime best and was less then a second off of an American record as she swam the fastest time in the 200-meter breaststroke semifinals to advance to the final, highlighting Trojan action at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb., on Thursday (July 3).
Soni, who finished fourth in the 100m breast earlier in the meet, entered the 200m breast as the top seed and swam the two fastest times in prelims and semifinals to advance to Friday's final as the favorite.

Her 2:23.05 in Thursday night's semifinal lowered her personal best by 0.21 and closed the gap to Amanda Beard's American record to 0.61. Beard finished with the second-fastest time in the semifinals with a 2:25.43 while Soni's Trojan Club teammate Keri Hehn was third (2:26.51, also a p.r.).
Former Trojan All-American Gabe Woodward just missed on his attempt to make his second consecutive Olympic team, finishing eighth in the 100m free final. Top six in the event make the 4x100m free relay.
Trojan incoming freshman Tanya Krisman swam in the final of the 200m fly and finished fifth in 2:09.47.
Trojan senior Rachael Waller was 89th in the 100m free (57.81), sophomore James Martin was 47th in the 200m back (2:06.32) and sophomore Dillon Connolly was 53rd in the 200m IM (2:06.39).
