Currently, Williams is 6'2", 220 pounds, runs a 4.55 forty, and has a 32" vertical leap. He cannot wait to get into Coach Carroll's style of defense. He loves the aggressiveness and speed to which the defense is built upon flying to the ball.
Thomas Williams has made his college decision and it is a happy one for Trojan fans. Williams told the USC coaches on Monday evening that he wanted to be a Trojan. He has since cancelled other official trips scheduled to Notre Dame, Nebraska, and UCLA. Thomas will trip to USC on December 6th and will also make an unofficial trip to USC for the SC/Notre Dame game on November 30th. His original official trip to SC was to be on the second weekend of January. He has been in touch with Coach Tim Davis as his recruiting coordinator from SC since May 1st when SC was the first school to call. Thomas mentioned that SC was the school to show the most interest during his recruitment and he just thought/felt the time was right to announce for SC.
Williams is the type of linebacker who plays sideline to sideline. He likes to model his game after Ray Lewis. However, Williams has been playing the SAM outside linebacker position for his Vacaville. He is not sure if the SC coaches will want him at middle linebacker or on the outside. Either way, he is looking forward to the challenge of playing D1 college football, as he said he will be ready to take on and learn the nuances of a middle linebacker if needed. Williams loves stuffing the run. After graduation, Williams is planning to move down for summer workouts to be fully ready for fall camp. He was not certain if he will be red shirting or not, as he is fully aware that Coach Carroll has been playing several freshmen who have shown themselves in practice. Coach Carroll's willingness to play young players appeals to Williams. He knows he will get a fair shot to play regardless of age. Baseball is something Williams excels in also as he might get a look in the outfield by Coach Gillespie. Thomas wanted to say that he is honored to go to USC and will put in the effort to make SC fans proud. He cannot wait to get to Troy!
